I used to be into the theatre
I liked that it changed you and then it was gone
that was dumb; I'm much more into film now
I like the imprint
I like the record
I like the longevity

I like that when you get the impulse
you just have it to send to your friend or your dad
and can pause the parts you think are special;
Look at this frame
just a little bit longer
live in this moment that someone once had

The jig's always been up on the theatre
that's why they film the shows at the royal shakespeare
they want you to see Judi Dench do her thing
But who in their right miind would sit in a theatre full of strangers watching actors saying lines and slowly dying
with no hope of regenerating?

Some moments are too big to capture
with a brushstroke, a pinhole, or a turn of phrase
with some people the best you can do is
say "I held you and I loved you, unafraid"

But as per my shit with ephemera
before you let your breath slip into air
and your body become just a memory
how about you tell me where you are and where you're going
because I'll be looking
